Waldorf International Endorsement

It is a tremendous honor to announce that on November 13th L'Ecole Des Enfants, Inc. received the following endorsement and monetary support from Waldorf International, IASWECE:

"Dear friends, When the IASWECE council met last April in South Africa, many members were able to mentor and visit the local kindergartens and daycare centers in the townships. We all were humbled by the courage and strength we observed in the educators who take up this essential work for the young child every day amidst a life marked by huge social tensions caused by the great difference between being rich and poor. A few weeks ago the 35 members of the IASWECE Council met in Barcelona from October 11th to 15th. The current tensions over Catalonia's autonomy were again a reflection of the difficulty of working harmoniously together on the legal and cultural levels and the lecture previous chosen for the study work fitted well into this context:"Social and Antisocial Forces”, a lecture by Rudolf Steiner from December 12, 1918 (GA 186).

The focus of our meeting was preparation for the international IASWECE Conference that will take place from 15-19 April 2019, celebrating 100 years of Steiner/Waldorf education. The working title of the conference is: "Inner Freedom as Social Responsibility - Childhood as the source of a human future ". One of the ideals formulated when the first Waldorf school was founded, was that a weekly gathering of the teachers as the "heart" of the institution and an intensive and harmonious cooperation with the parents should be maintained. However as we all know, we are still a long way from realising theses ideals to their full potential. Therefore the IASWECE council suggested that there should be enough opportunity during the conference for practical, artistic and intellectual work on the conditions that must be created for intensive, lively cooperation. Other topics of the meeting revolved around the subject of "cooperation": cooperation between kindergarten and school, the transition from kindergarten to school, and cooperation within the worldwide Waldorf movement in the framework of Waldorf 100.

The council also reviewed the various project applications that reached us and again we are pleased to welcome some new initiatives. We were not able to grant all projects the full amounts requested, but as always, we tried to create an appropriate balance. If you received less than you applied for, we hope that you will nevertheless be able to continue and develop your project activity. For 2018, the council has decided to support your project in Bouake up to the amount of EUR 1.500,00."
