Cacao Festival

The month of October our teachers have been preparing for the Cacao festival with the children at our campus in Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire. Côte d’Ivoire is the number one producer of cacao and through an experimental way the children have been learning about cacao. Yesterday the parents were invited to celebrate the cacao festival with us. Here are some reflections from one of our teachers, Virginio Silue, about the festival.  “Festival celebrations are very important for both teachers and children. It also explains Waldorf teaching method which is, Teaching in an artistic way. The “Cacao festival” helps children discover many things in their own environment. Now, they know what is cacao and what it is used for. It’s also important because it helps children not only embody the rhythm of the year and the season but also, by helping them master what surrounds them. "Cacao festival" was a special event for all of us (teachers, children, and parents). Teachers develop their imagination, by telling stories, and finding specific songs for children.”
